What do you understand by God’s Love? What does God’s love mean to you?
The Bible explains in John 15: 13
‘Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends’.
Have you imagined yourself giving up your life for your friend, spouse or family? Is it possible for you to die for another?
What a sacrifice Jesus made on the cross of Calvary for us!
Jesus did something no one can ever do and will ever do. Thus the reason his name is exalted high above all principalities and powers. The only person mentioned in the Bible who tried to make a huge sacrifice was Abraham who God told to sacrifice his son Isaac. However, his one was to test his faith in God.
Abraham in Genesis 22:1-19 passed through the test because he made a move to do what God asked but God stopped him. See below
22 After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.
You will get to understand the rest of the story as you read the entire chapter!
No wonder till date Abraham is known as the father of many nations. Despite the sin Abraham committed by going to sleep with his maid Haggai, God kept his promise because his covenant will God not break nor utter the things that proceed out of the mouth (Psalms 89:34)
God’s love for humanity makes him keep to his promise. Promises are a firm covenant, but we don’t care if we do not continue to our words. Some people are unpredictable which is not a useful attribute for Christians. Our words should be our bond.
Let your yes be yes and your no is, no(Matthew 5:37).
However, God is not a man that he should lie neither a son of man that he should repent.
1. God’s love is forgiving
2. God’s love is unending
3. God’s Love rebukes – which explains the reason he admonishes and you can sometimes hear the holy spirit’s gentle reminding voice
4. God’s Love is pure – that is why he is a sacred God.
Also, God said to Abraham that as far as his eyes can see, he will get.
God’s love accepts individual the way they are and moulds them into perfection.
‘He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars–if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him’, “So shall your offspring be.”
Great sacrifices come with its reward. For Example, when you pray more, you get more results and have more access to God than when you do not pray enough.
God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for us that we might be free from
• Financial insolvent
• And other plans of the devil.
(John 10:10 )explains that the thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy but Jesus has come to give us Life and life more abundantly.
The above passage only explains that God’s love brings about hope, strength, wisdom, blessings and Much more. However, the enemy has come to steal our joy and happiness from us.
The bibe in 2 Corinthians 10:4 explains that the weapon of our warfare is not carnal, but through prayers and supplications, we should make our request known to him. Hence, instead of fighting one another, we should aim to pray about any conflict and be ready to sacrifice our human flesh(reacting physically to the person) or retaliation.
If someone gives his life for you, I am sure the person will expect something in return. God is not asking for too much, but he wishes that we show love him by
1. Praising him
3. Praying and;
4. Reading the word
And ultimately bring people to his Kingdom via our behaviour and preaching the gospel. God went as far sending us the holy spirit who will help us in every way to be able to keep to his precepts.
PRAYER –May God help us to keep to his precepts according to his commandments.
